EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS
The YesWeAre teaching materials is available in printed format and will hopefully soon be available in digital form as well. The YesWeAre material is designed to be used whether you are in a school connected to the internet with access to a computer and projector/screen, or in a school under a tree, or with a football team on a football field, etc.
The material is created for conversations in groups of children and young people. It is divided into the age groups 4-7 years, 8-12 years, and 13-20 years. The material can be used in various settings, such as schools, sports clubs, etc.
In the printed material, each lesson is presented in A3 format, with an image on one side and the lesson content on the other. It is important that everyone can see the images, as each lesson’s content is based on the image connected to it. In the digital material, all images will be available in PowerPoint format so they can be displayed on a large screen. The lesson guides will be provided separately in digital form for the teacher.
The lessons are dialogue-based, and the thoughts of the children and young people are central. Conversations such as “If you were this person, what would you think about the situation?”, “Do you think so?”, “I think/feel like this.”, “Oh, that’s another way to think about it, but how do you think the other person is thinking?”, “How do you think this person feels in this situation?”, are important.
Empathy is needed to understand other people’s thoughts and feelings, but empathy can also be trained. To understand why it is important, for example, to be honest, we must understand how others, and we ourselves, can be affected if we are dishonest. Through this material, we aim to help children and young people develop strong values that can guide their thoughts and actions, and thereby build good character.
